Amelie vs Elephant Man

Have you ever noticed how similar the Amelie soundtrack is to the Elephant Man soundtrack?
you tell me. am i bugging?

The Amelie soundtrack was composed by Yann Tiersen. The director bought up all of his material upon first hearing it. mostly piano and accordian driven. eerie, but somehow comforting.

The Elephant Man is one of the few David Lynch films that Angelo Badalamenti DID NOT score. This work was done by John Morris, who composed many other films (most of them produced by Mel Brooks, who picked David Lynch to work on The Elephant Man).

Other John Morris soundtracks:
The Blackwater Lightship (2004), The Lady in Question (1999), Murder in a Small Town (1999), Ellen Foster (1997), Life Stinks (1991), Stella (1990), Second Sight (1989), The Wash (1988), Ironweed (1987), Dirty Dancing (1987), Spaceballs (1987), Haunted Honeymoon (1986), Clue (1985), The Doctor and the Devils (1985), Johnny Dangerously(1984), The Woman in Red (1984), To Be or Not to Be (1983), Yellowbeard (1983), Table for Five (1983), History of the World: Part I (1981), The Elephant Man (1980), In God We Tru$t (1980), The In-Laws (1979), High Anxiety (1977), The World's Greatest Lover (1977), The Last Remake of Beau Geste (1977), Silent Movie (1976), The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975), Blazing Saddles (1974), Young Frankenstein(1974), Bank Shot (1974), The Twelve Chairs (1970), The Gamblers (1970), The Producers (1968)

an interesting bit of trivia re: The Elephant Man -
"When the nominees for the 53rd Annual Academy Awards were announced in February 1981, many in the industry were appalled that this movie was not going to be honored for its make-up effects. At the time [makeup] was not regular category... Feeling that the make-up technicians deserved to be rewarded for the film, a letter a protest was sent to the Academy's Board of Governors to ask them to change their minds and give the film a special award. The Academy refused, but in response to the outcry, they decided a year later to reward make-up artists with their own annual category, and thus the best make-up award was born." (imdb.com)
